like we heard from the stage, "what is your depth and breadth of bible knowledge?
Thanks

weve all heard it.
a person starts studying with jehovahs witnesses and love what they are learning so much that they cant stop talking about it.
bubbling with enthusiasm, they spill everything they are learning with their friends and family...or anybody who will listen.
This is absolutely a subject that will be ongoing for us all. We are and have been discussing issues with elders, friends, and family. My wifes' mother decided to shun her months ago. One main reason was my wife saying she hoped Candice Conti wins her case because it will help other victims. Big mistake for keeping up a long term relationship with devote JWS.
Some succesful conversations are started with questions that we do not answer. Who are the two witnesses in Rev 11:3?. What did the Bible students believe about 1914? What does the Chryler emblem have in common with the "Finished Mystery" book? Have you ever considered what Jeremiah 52:28-30 says when learning how the 70 years were fullfilled ? Have you ever heard that each creative day was 7,000 years long?
We have great discussions when we do not force or preach.
Londo you have been a great help to me and my family. Thanks

Update:
We (family, friends, and victim) are talking about what can be done to help others. The balance is not to hurt the victim, but to help others avoid the emotional pain. Our discussions are about carefully considerating what will be best for all.
Your insights would be greatly appreciated and of value right now.
The father is now livid. Last night he told me the WT. lawyers are giving him an ultimatum. Sign an agreement not appeal or we will sue you for court cost (est. $25,000 to $30,000)
To the father this is salt in the wounds. At the end of his deposition the four WT. lawyers apologized for what had happened to his daughter. His view of this ultimatum is that it betrays a lack of sincerity about the apology given.
The expression that comes to mind is: "nothing personal just business"
i've talked with some good friends on the board about this before and we seem to be in agreement : one reason ( among many ) that some disfellowshipped jw's go back and return to the wt organization is because they are full of uneeded guilt or uneeded fear because they haven't educated themselves about how the wt society uses mind control tactics to deceive them into thinking they have " nowhere else to go " .
i understand that some dfed ones may go back to the organization for family and friends- however- it's an exrecise in futility because once you learn the truth about the truth you cannot undo what you heard.
so some may just go back and live a fake jw life to appease family- but just think of how that can damage a person's emotional and mental health playing the fake jw game the rest of their lives !
First I would like to say thank you for all your contributions to this board.
I am not comfortable given advice on this subject. Learning about mind control is on my to do list. I do feel comfortable sharing some of my journey out from under mind control. Since I loved being a witness and believed it so much it was painful to see it fall apart "like a cheap card table". The "truth" was emotionally beat out of me. Facts and discovery certainly play a big part of in the process. Revisionist history was and is a huge anchor keeping my ship from drifting back into watchtower waters.
A difficult belief to get out of me was what I can describe as "waiting for the spiritual man". I gave a deposition still hoping to meet "a spiritual man". Did not happen.
I have many experiences that add weight to my theory about "waiting for the spiritual man". Look into the Menlo Park Kingdom Hall. Jason Cobb in my opinion suffers from this type of condition. "Wait on Jehovah", "light gets brighter", "Peter was corrected", "Jehovah allows this as a test/sifting". "those elders were removed", etc.
love your exprssion
Peace out
i was looking for new books to read at b&n.
somehow i saw there were pre-orders for ehrman's latest book dealling with the transformation of the historical jesus into god, a concept foreign to judaism to say the least..
Sorry that this is off topic. "better to be forgiven than to not try"
I real get what you are saying about First amendment rights.
Adding to that whole discussing: "that if we loose because of the rules then learn to fight within the rules". I do not know who said that, but it is what I believe.
this was meant to have nice inserted pictures and tidy hyperlinks but the forum's being glitchy today.
so unfortunately it's going to be a messy post where you're going to have to exercise your tapping fingers and click on the links to the pics to see what i'm referring to.
sorry about that.. in the article recently studied "do this in remembrance of me" (w13 12/15), there is a box on p. 23 giving the date of this year's memorial and how that date is arrived at.. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2013926.
Just wanted to thank you your contributions to this forum. I would say I cannot understand half of what you are talking about, but really it might be a much larger percentage than that. LOL
Point is you have opened up to me a world of information that I previously had no idea existed.
Thanks
well... as they say on talk back radio "i'm a long time listener, first time caller"(poster in this case!).
i have been a "lurker" for several years, but never had the courage to take the step and join up...until now.. i really want to thank everyone for their insights and comments throughout the forum.
although i have not contibuted to discussions, i have benefitted very much from all of your comments and observations on all topics.
I have been reading your comments. We do have a kindred spirit. You love the friends, but see them and yourself stuck in movement you no longer believe in. You realize the injustice of killing 7 billion people if they do not follow a movement that cannot decide who and what they really are. If any doubt that just look at the historical record since 1919. Personally I can say that the movement has changed beliefs on so many topics that it no longer can do Jesus Christ justice. I mean how can they say Jesus is the head of the organization with so many wrong teachings since 1919.
It would be great to meet you for coffee.
You are doing a the right thing.
Thanks

The case will not be appealed. Simply not enough funds and the lawyers felt the judge took his time and sited extensive case laws. The combination makes moving forward not practicle.
Do not conclude that the debate on child abuse reform inside the WTBS is over. I personally have had many heart to heart conversation with many friends. Perhaps another "bubble", but in my world today their are many people inside the watchtower disturbed by the actions of the leadership. For all those I have talked with, and know that I was involved in an abuse case, the anouncement with have to raise their awarness. Not as drastic, but like watching an innocent person be executed for a crime he did not do.
In this struggle it can be said: "the more you tighten your grip the more will slip through your fingers".
LOL. I must be tired. The Star Wars quotes just keep coming
Peace and have fun
